It's Our Anniversary

Header

Happy Anniversary to us! It’s been two years since we began helping Canadians keep track of, and turn their bills into rewards! Whether you’ve been with us since day one, or for just one day we want to thank everyone who’s ever given our App a try. It’s been a busy two years for us and to celebrate, we want to take a walk down memory lane and recap all the amazing things we’ve accomplished since launching our app in 2017.

When we first launched in Canada, we wanted to make the Paytm bill payment experience smooth, reliable and convenient. Our goal was to help people save money and avoid late fees! At that time, we offered rewards as a bonus for making regular payments every month. We hadn’t launched our loyalty program, but we did and continue to offer our customers an easy and secure way to pay their bills.

In June of 2017, we launched our blog as a way to keep in touch and maintain accountability.

In September of 2017, we added the ability to send money through the Paytm App. This feature allowed our users to instantly send and receive money to anyone with the App. No more waiting for your friends to “get you next time” when you loan them $20.

In October of 2017, we began offering cash back promotions to our users.

At the start of 2018, there was a chance that Visa would start charging our customers a cash advance. We wanted to stay true to our promise of never charging our users fees, so we decided to suspend the use of Visa credit cards on our platform. Since that day, we’ve been working with Visa tirelessly to bring their payment method back to our app.

Announced in February of 2018, and launched officially on our first anniversary, the Paytm Points program was introduced. With the success of similar loyalty programs across Canada we thought rewarding our users with points would be the perfect way to reward them for making payments with the App. Designed with our customers in mind, the Paytm Points program is the only rewards program in Canada that gives you points when you pay a bill or purchase an e-gift card. You will collect 1 Paytm Point for every $1 that you spend in the app, and this program is only improving.

With the launch of our points program came our referral points incentive, which has evolved throughout the years, and is still something we offer our users! If you don’t know about the referral bonus, now you know: all Paytm Customers can refer a friend using their unique referral code in their profile. When your friend pays their first bill of $25 or more, you will both receive 5,000 bonus Paytm Points.

In February of 2018 our customers nationwide could reload their Paytm Cash directly at a Canada Post office. It was also around this time we launched SmartBills. Paytm SmartBills sends you timely reminders through an email, and a push notification on your smartphone for your upcoming bill payments. You will see your bill amount and due date directly in the app. No more remembering multiple passwords or account numbers, no more time wasted and no more late fees.

In March of 2018, we became “Great Places To Work” certified!

In May of 2018 we launched SmartAlerts, an easy way for customers to apply for GO Train Transit fare credits. Did you know that if your train is delayed by 15 minutes you can apply for these credits? We also launched SmartDeposit, offering our customers the flexibility to securely deposit money from their linked bank account into their Paytm account at pre-scheduled times such as every 2 weeks.

In September of 2018, Canadians really started to flock to our app, and we had some big changes! We changed our rewards by introducing FREE rewards, by redeeming Paytm Points into Paytm Cash, and by allowing customers to purchase rewards instantly with their credit card. You can learn about all those changes here. It was also in this month that we launched our Set It & Forget It feature, allowing customers to schedule their bill payments in advance.

In November of 2018 we hit a huge milestone and became the #1 Finance app in both the Apple and GooglePlay store. Being number one in a category that so far has only included financial institutions, was a huge win for a fintech startup like us! As we began to see huge growth at the end of last year, we joined forces with Paysafe to enhance our mobile payment solution experience for Canadians.

At the end of 2018, we hosted a daily draw give away contest, and early in January 2019 we started the 5x the points when they pay their credit card bill promotion. We also launched a new Status Tracker feature which allows our customers to track the status of a payment.

In February of 2019 we began offering a new payment method: Visa Debit, and just a few weeks ago we shared how you can really amp up your Paytm Points by bundling your bills.

Wishing yourself a happy anniversary is kinda tacky, but we believe in loving yourself. These last two years since our launch has flown by. And, we want to thank each and every person who has ever given our App a try! Thanks again for your overwhelming support, our journey has been simply incredible so far. And, we’re just getting started!

How do i transfer back my paytm money to my back account ?

Hi Aman, unfortunately this is not a feature we support at the moment.
However, you can definitely use the existing Paytm Cash funds to pay for you bills or purchase gift vouchers 🙂

Need cash back discounts as we had last year on payment of our bills

Hi Praful, thanks for your suggestion! We’ll take it into consideration for our future promotions. Cheers 🙂

Does it mean I can use my credit card to pay for all my bills (if so that’s awesome because I will earn more points in my credit card) … then I can also add the same credit card here and pay thru paytm?

Hey Holly, yes, yes & yes! We do have some minor restrictions that you can find in our Help Centre. You can also email us at care@paytm.ca for more information. Cheers 🙂

I was using paytm widely but wont be using now.. The expected bill payment says 4-5 days but my credit card bill payments was posted after 10 days affecting my credit score as well as 13dollar late payment charge.
Not my fault of paying late, paytms fault but charges have to be beared by me

Hi Hussain, we apologise for any inconvenience this has caused for you! Our processing time is 5-8 business-days from the day you initiate the payment to the fulfillment date. The “bill paid date” is shown prior to submission to ensure that your bills are paid by the date you want them to be. If there is anything we can do- please email us at care@paytm.ca

Paytm really needs to improve their services. What’s the sense of setting a scheduled bill payment when paytm will withdraw the money from your account 2 or 3 days before you scheduled it. Then on the flip side, if you don’t schedule a payment, they withdraw the next day the moment you submit a transaction. Now they have my payments on hold because of they craziness they did. Then when asking Paytm for answers, no response. How can I get my bills that are on hold reversed and sent back to my bank account? I think this may be the last time I use Paytm.

Hi Trey, looks like your account issue has been resolved on our end! In terms of the processing time, unfortunately we are unable to control the days’ payments are withdrawn as this is set by the bank. We would recommend to follow the general rule of paying 5-8 days before your payment is due to avoid late payments 🙂

Congratulations to the PayTM Canada team on your anniversary . You are doing fantastic job!!
