Giving Thanks

thnaksgiving blog

We have a lot to be thankful for this year at Paytm. For one, we’ve grown so much in the last year that we’re close to 100 employees working out of our downtown Toronto office! Two, Paytm is becoming a household name in Canada. Remember when Uber first started, and you weren’t sure if you wanted to sign up or not? Now you can’t live without it, and you might be thinking, why did I wait so long to sign up? The same is true with Paytm. You really have nothing to lose when you sign up for our app. It’s FREE, plus we reward YOU for things that you already have to do like pay your bills. Kind of a no brainer, right?

So, while we’re giving thanks for everything we’ve accomplished in the last year, we wanted to thank YOU – loyal and new customer – with some points!

Loyal Paytm Customers – we wouldn’t be the app we are today without you. So we increased our referral bonus points from 2,000 to 5,000 points! Use your unique code in your app to refer a friend, and when they sign up and pay a bill of $50 or more, you’ll BOTH get 5,000 points. That’s enough points to redeem for a FREE $5 gift card to Tim Hortons.

New Paytm Customers – give us a chance! When you download the Paytm Canada app and sign up we’ll give you 10,000 Welcome Points! Redeem your welcome points for a $10 rewards card from some of your favourite brands like: Sephora (FREE makeup, HELLO!), Cineplex (FREE movie), Just Eat (now who doesn’t love FREE pizza), and so many more brands to choose from.

Since Thanksgiving is only a few days away you’re probably going to spend some money on decor, food, wine, etc., which is the perfect time to double up on points!

Starting today and until November 5, when you pay your credit card bill through the Paytm app, we increased the credit card points limit from 1,000 points to 2,000 points!

Paytm Canada Thanksgiving Recipes

In honour of Thanksgiving, we asked a couple of our employees for their favourite Thanksgiving recipes, and here they are:

Andrew’s Roasted Potatoes:

What’s a Thanksgiving dinner without potatoes? Andrew’s recipe is quick and easy, which leaves you with more time to enjoy with your family, and keep that wine flowing.

  • 1-2 packages of roasting potatoes (depending on how large your family is)
  • Place in a bowl with olive oil, fresh rosemary, himalayan sea salt and cayenne pepper and toss until well coated.
  • Roast in the oven at 425 degrees for 45 mins – 1 hour or until crispy and golden brown.

Zein’s Deep Fried Turkey:

If you haven’t had a deep fried turkey, you don’t know what you’re missing! (It’s kinda like missing out on earning free rewards by paying your bills through Paytm.)

  • Make sure the turkey is room temperature.
  • Coat turkey with dry rub – I love this one from the Healthy Butcher.
  • Heat oil in a turkey fryer or a very, very large stock pot to 350 degrees F (leave room for the turkey so the oil doesn’t spill.)
  • Lower turkey very slowing into hot oil, very carefully, making sure its fully submerged. Fry turkey for 3 minutes per pound.

*If you’ve never tried to deep fry a turkey, we’d suggest to watch a few videos before you do it.
